Foundation & Basement Excavation
Every new house starts with a hole in the ground, and the house is only as good as that hole. Addison digs full basements, daylight basements, and foundation footings for new builds, working from your builder's plans and the surveyor's stakes so the foundation crew starts on the right elevation.
Service Overview
Basement and foundation digs in North Georgia rarely go exactly like the plan drawing. Sloped mountain lots call for daylight and walkout basements, dense red clay is heavy to move and hard to reuse, and rock or groundwater can show up partway through a dig. Addison Excavations handles the whole excavation side of a new build: we confirm the stakes and finish-floor elevation with your builder, place the Georgia 811 locate request, install erosion control, clear and strip the footprint, and dig to the plan with working room around the walls for the foundation crew. Spoil is stockpiled for backfill and final grading or hauled off in our own tri-axle truck. When the walls are poured and your builder gives the word, we come back to backfill, compact, and slope the grade away from the house. Because the same crew can clear the lot, grade the pad, and dig the basement, there is no gap between contractors where a problem can hide.
Key Capabilities
Our Process
Plans, Stakes & Locates
We review the plans with your builder, confirm the surveyor's stakes and finish-floor elevation, place the Georgia 811 locate request, and install the erosion control the site needs before any dirt moves.
Clear & Strip
We clear the footprint and access, strip the topsoil, and stockpile it for final grading so good soil is not buried under the spoil pile.
Excavate to Plan
Our operators dig to the depths and elevations on the plans, leaving working room around the walls for the foundation crew. If we hit rock or water, we stop and talk it through with you and your builder before the plan changes.
Backfill & Grade
Once the walls are poured and your builder is ready, we backfill and compact around the foundation, then shape the grade so water drains away from the house.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you dig basements for new homes in North Georgia?
Yes. We dig full basements, daylight basements, and walkout basements for new homes, plus footings for slab and crawlspace foundations. Sloped North Georgia lots often suit a daylight or walkout basement, and we dig to the elevations on your builder's plans.
What happens to the dirt from a basement dig?
Some of it stays on site for backfill and final grading, and the rest gets hauled off in our own tri-axle truck. We plan the spoil pile with your builder up front so it is not sitting where the concrete trucks need to go.
Who calls Georgia 811 before you dig?
We do. Georgia law requires a locate request before excavation, so we place the Georgia 811 request for our dig and wait for the utility marks before we start.
Can you dig on a tight or steep lot?
Yes. We run excavators and track loaders built for North Georgia's steep terrain, and a compact track loader for tight-access lots. We walk the site before the estimate so access, slope, and spoil storage are planned before the dig day.
