Red clay is dense and requires heavy machinery to cut efficiently, but it holds its shape well during excavation - an advantage compared to sandy soils that cave in. The bigger challenge is managing the excavated material, since red clay is heavy and typically cannot be reused as backfill around the pool shell. We haul it off site and bring in clean fill when needed.
What prep work is involved beyond the dig itself?
